Florida Woman Charged in Shooting at Rihanna, A$AP Rocky's Home

A 35-year-old Florida woman is now facing serious criminal charges in Los Angeles following a shooting incident at the Beverly Crest estate of music icons Rihanna and A$AP Rocky. Ivanna Lisette Ortiz appeared in court this week after allegedly firing a rifle at the property's front gate.
Criminal Charges and Court Proceedings
Ortiz has been formally charged with one count of attempted murder, ten felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three felony counts of discharging a weapon at an inhabited dwelling. Prosecutors state the charges stem from a deliberate attempt to harm the singer. The defendant did not enter a plea during her initial hearing, and her arraignment is scheduled for late March. Following her arrest, her bail was substantially reduced from an initial figure exceeding $10 million.
Details of the Alleged Incident
Law enforcement reports indicate the incident occurred in the early afternoon. The suspect allegedly drove to the secluded residence, fired multiple rounds from a semiautomatic rifle into the property's gate, and then fled the scene. Authorities located and arrested Ortiz in the Sherman Oaks area shortly after the shooting. If convicted on all charges, she could potentially face a lifetime sentence in state prison.
Family and Neighbors Present During Attack
A key factor in the numerous assault charges is the number of people present during the event. Officials confirmed that not only were Rihanna and A$AP Rocky at home, but their three young children were also on the premises along with the singer's mother and two staff members. The couple was reportedly inside an Airstream camper on their property when the shooting occurred. Neighbors in adjacent homes were also present, leading to ten separate felony assault counts—one for each individual allegedly endangered. The court has since issued a protective order for the safety of the family and their neighbors.
Ongoing Investigation into Motive and Weapon
The investigation, now handled by the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division, is actively pursuing several key questions:
- The motive behind the targeted attack.
- How the suspect obtained the firearm used in the incident.
- The examination of social media content and other digital evidence.
Police officials have noted that the suspect appears to have traveled to California from Florida specifically before the shooting. While the inquiry continues, authorities have expressed relief that no one was physically injured despite the significant property damage and clear danger posed by the gunfire.
